Safe Water by the Numbers

Nearly 1 billion people lack access to potable water. Here is how GiveSafeWater helps.

60 Dollars

A donation of $60 covers the cost of the water filter, tubing, hardware, and two five-gallon plastic food-grade buckets. Additional dollars fund mission trips which put the filters directly into the hands of those who need them.

1 Filter

A Sawyer PointONE filter uses technology similar to advanced kidney dialysis filtration. The filter is small, portable, and does not require chemicals, a power source, or a trained operator for use or maintenance.

20 People

After one person learns how to use the filter, that person can provide clean water for 4 families, or approximately 20 people. Because of the simplicity of the filter's design, anyone can be taught to use the filter system.

10 Years

The water filter can be cleaned easily by flushing clean water backwards through the filter. Because of the simplicity of the filter's maintenance, a filter will last 10 years and clean one million gallons of water.

About GiveSafeWater

GiveSafeWater is a volunteer 501(c)3 organization that was established in 2013 to provide safe water to those without access to clean water. It is located in Kansas City, Missouri and was founded by Chris Chaney and Kermit Fendler, local businessmen. Upon visiting El Salvador as part of a mission trip in 2013, Chris and Kerm learned there are many underprivileged communities that have water available to them, but the water is not clean. As a result, the families drink, cook and clean with water that causes sickness, disease and even death. Seeing this, Chris and Kerm felt compelled to help. In talking with each other and organizations serving these communities, the plan for GiveSafeWater was formed.

GiveSafeWater partners with organizations in underprivileged countries that run effective programs that not only get the filters to those communities in need, but also teach people about the importance of safe water and proper sanitation and how to properly use and maintain the filters.

Those of us who started GiveSafeWater believe that we can make a meaningful difference in the world at a relatively small cost. Our goal is to act as a conduit between those who want to join us in making a difference (our donors) and those in need. Drinking clean water is critical to maintaining good health and it is something that we in the United States take for granted every day. GiveSafeWater gives our thousands of donors the opportunity to have a huge impact on the health of many people young and old for a nominal donation.

To improve lives...Give Safe Water.
